Television
Gordon The Gopher. . .
11/11/07 00:30
I was just reminded this evening of one of my
favourite ever tv moments. I watched this
going out live and giggled over it for many a year.
I LOVED Gordon. He was sooo funny. Look at him shaking with fear. Awww wee man!

Everybody Out!

One was on Eastenders and the other Coronation Street. I don't know what prompted the scene in S'tenders but I glanced up in time to see all the customers leave the cafe with nary a complaint never mind a demand for a refund. At least on Corrie the customers grumbled a little before meekly leaving.
How likely is this to happen in real life? What's the chances of people allowing themselves to be turfed out as they prepare to dip their sausage in their egg in the middle of their Ulster Fry. How long would the queue be as they waited for their food to be packed *to go* and how many people would sit still, refusing to move at all?
T'would NEVER happen in Starbucks.
Would it?
Surely not!
CSI Close Up Camera Work . . .

It's nice to see the same gadgets as you use being used by other people.
The only thing is. . . . Every time I see him taking photos of important items quite close up I just know that the on-boad flash isn't going to be quite good enough to do the job - he really needs a better flash, preferably some macro flash. The lens tends to get in the way during close up work and casts a shadow which would block out the item. . .
I'd love to see the photos that they really take.
Ross And Janice!

Unfortunately, I had just taken a mouthful of tea when the two boys came on stage and she stormed back on and JR tried to shut the doors on her - I actually sprayed the whole laptop screen with it when I couldn't hold it in any longer.
If you didn't see it you HAVE to make sure you catch the repeat. I reckon they will be playing this one for a long time!
Top Gear - Top Prog . . .

I am not particularly in to cars - you don't have to be. It is a bit like not really having to be in to sport to love Question of Sport. But the whole program makes me giggle so much. The silly things they do like getting The Stig to set a lap time in a Vauxhaul Astra Diesel and then the three of them trying to beat that in three 1970s £10k sports cars, or Jeremy setting a lap time at Nurburgring in a sports car and then having a GIRL almost beat it in a FORD TRANSIT - it all appeals to my sense of the ridiculous.
What about the one where Clarkson drives an Audi up a mountain while two wee lads rock climb it and they win. Then they race back down again and the wee lad simply jumps off the cliff with a chute on his back.
So. My advice. If you need a little bit of cheering up - there is nothing better than sitting down with "The Best Of" for 30 minutes or so. Works every time for me.
Seriously?

Every single episode has me giggling, tittering, grinning, awwwwing, sniffing and down right balling my eyes out. The last couple I have watched have begun in tears and ended in tears. I know that doesn't sound like any recommendation but this show is FAR better than the likes of ER etc. I never needed to see the next episode of ER as if my life depended on it.
Season One was quickly dispatched, Season Two was over in no time and I am catching up with Season Three now.
I think the last time I sat transfixed to a program as much was for Alias - and you know how much I LOVED that!
If you have a couple of minutes to spare, give yourself a treat and sit back to watch this quick taste of what you are missing. (There aren't really any spoilers in there, not really, it isn't as if I am telling you that Jenny Calendar dies or anything. . . . )
There. Wasn't that
lovely? Are you hooked yet?
The Hamster's Back!

I have to say I watched the whole show with tears never far from trickling. When he commentated through the footage of his crash I was practically balling my eyes out. His words as he climbed into the car and talked about being scared etc were just a little too close to the knuckle.
He is looking much thinner now but, Dude, he is alive!
Yay!
Dancing On Ice . . .
20/01/07 21:03
YAY!
That's my Saturday nights sorted for the next few weeks.
I have absolutely no idea why I like it so much - other than the love affair I had with Torvill and Dean in the 80s. Considering I can't even step on to ice myself, it is a mystery as to why I love watching these non-professionals bettering their skills week after week. . . .
Jericho . . .

I can't say that I saw that much of it, what I DID see looked good, but it didn't grip me immediately the way Lost did in the first couple of episodes. It didn't help that Jessica fell UP the stairs with a glass of milk in her hands in the middle of it all then came in and out to offer me some of her Friday Sweets every few minutes. . .
THIS is why I need Sky+, to press a button and have it all recorded for me without the hysterics from the children. Will let you know if it gets watched again. . .
Cold Case . . .
03/11/06 13:57
I like that. Gets me every time.
Can I just tell you a secret though? When I was a child, I thought they made criminals to play the people in films that got shot. Well - they wouldn't shoot innocent people would they? The ones that died were from death row. . . All makes perfect sense.
